I had the same issue with my toaster, cord too short. I removed the original cord and replaced it with a heavier duty cord I had saved from another appliance. I know this is not for everyone, but sure solved the issue.
That's against NEC, the law, physics in general, good electrical practice, and is contributing to global warming.
