We kinda beat around the bush a little. Those mirrors are designed to allow you to see TO THE SIDE of the MH while traveling down the highway. If you think they are too far out, first check with the mfgr to see if they are standard or somebody added them on. My mirrors move both in and out from the rig, allowing me to sight them along the side of the coach. If you have them too far inboard, you can not see anything to your sides. Are they inconvenient? Sometimes, Yes! You can learn how to drive with them safely. Do it.
If you want have a worried trip, Go on 320th Street in Federal Way WA. The street has 4 lanes, heavily traveled and with poles, lights, trees, etc. very close to the curb. I can navigate it, but carefully, and I do see damage on the obstructions that tell me others are not as careful.
Learn to drive your rig, don't try to modify it for "convenience" rather than safety. A little harder but safer in the long run.
