- gjcummingsExplorerthe RM8505 is a little over 3.5 cf
- DavyddExplorerPretty hard to find and you have to be able to read a little bit of German but I found one source for the Dometic Slim Tower RML 8330 that says it is 140 liters which translates to 4.944 cubic feet or just say 5 cubic feet. It is suppose to be 16-1/2" wide.
A lot of B converters are starting to install 6.8 cubic foot refrigerator/freezers usually with two doors. The long time standard was stuck on the 3.8-4.0 cubic size for many Class Bs. - wincrasher65ExplorerYep. Love mine. It's pretty big.
- bobojay5ExplorerThe model number of the 70A fridge is RML 8330 Slim Tower. Look on Dometic Germany's web page.
I believe this is the same unit used in the Winnie Travato, and one model of their ProMaster class C units too. So their should be a good number of them going through their system - gjcummingsExplorerForgot to include my Model number. It is Dometic RM8505 and it works like a champ.
- gjcummingsExplorerTried to post earlier by phone but after 20 minutes still trying to send so sorry if that reply comes in...
I have a 2013 ERA with the under counter domestic not the tall one in the 170A. All the paperwork I have gives no indication of size. On line found that it is 100 liters and 106 liters with freezer out. Now all you have to do is convert liters to cubic feet. Plenty of room for a long weekend. We also carry a 45 qt YETI for ices and frozen items.
Hope this helps. Great vehicle by the way. - bobojay5ExplorerIt's a Dometic that's made in Germany. There's nothing on the North American website about it.
DavyDD, no that's not the one. I'll post the model no. in a future posting - DavyddExplorerBobojay5,
Do they tell you the size of your refrigerator and what kind it is? They say it has a detachable freezer. Dometic is the only one I can find that remotely looks like it with its narrow size and it is a 4 cf Dometic RM8555. Is it custom made for Winnebago? - bobojay5ExplorerThe 70A has a long narrow fridge. It's not as big as it seems to look, however most class B'ers don't run but a couple days worth of eats at any one time.
We like our 70A and the construction quality has been excellent so far. Only one small cabinet trim problem in 16k miles that I fixed myself with glue.
Most class B owners also get used to using the campground showers when available, although the 70A has a slightly larger shower than the 70X does, but it's still a wet marine type shower - rkloud9ExplorerWe have found the sales videos by Lichtsinn Motors to be most informative regarding Winnebago/Itasca. There are presently two floor plans, the 70A with twin beds and the 70X with the convertable sofa in the back. The 70A has the kitchen on the passenger side with a larger 6-7 cu.ft. reefer. The 70X has the kitchen on the driver side with a smaller under-counter unit, about 3 cu.ft.
A new unit is coming soon, the 70C, that has a driver's side slide with the sofa bed and the larger reefer.
I have been lurking around all the forums for some time trying to figure out the best solution for my wife and me. We like the B class, and rented the 70X last Spring. We had a fine time and learned a lot about the plusses and minuses of this unit and the B class. The reefer size worried us, but the size was not nearly so bad as its under counter location... lots of stooping while shuffling things around.
Overall, we loved driving and riding in the Sprinter, figured that with some experience we could get what we need packed in the ERA, found the build quality excellent, did not much like the convertible couch because all entry and exit is at the foot of the bed, found the aisle too narrow for two to pass, and were not crazy about the wet bath. I think I could get used to it, but wife - not so much.
For us the 70A would be better, but the bath is the same as the X. The 70C has a super bath in the back, but the sofa bed in the slide is pretty narrow and has to be made (IMO) while underway.
Just rambling about +/-'s, which is what it's all about for us right now.
Have fun!
