The key issue is to find a floor plan you can live with - works for you..... with or without a slide. Slides can give you a little extra space and they can also give you severe headaches. If you get a slide learn how to maintain it and do so.
A serious concern in many C's, particularly the larger models is the extra weight a slide(s) add. Many are short on payload due to the presence of slide(s). Any C that doesn't have at least 2,000#+ of available payload is going to be a problem sooner than later.
Unless you plan on spending inordinate amounts of time inside, as in a lot of camping in rainy locales with kids, you probably will not miss having that little bit of extra space. Our 24' C with 7' of headroom throughout and 101" wide has plenty of room for the two of us and our large dog.
Buy what works for you but don't believe the nonsense that you will not be able to sell any RV that does not have slide(s). Lots of folks just don't need them and laundry list of problems they can bring for the sake of a few extra square feet.
As always.... Opinions and YMMV.

Impact on pay load is one of the reoccurring issues I keep seeing.
If it limits what you can haul and tow than to keep the length down it may be worth looking at a smaller Class A.
