Two motorhomes with slideouts. One with one and another one with two.
Never had any problems with them, but I was always concerned to the point that I practice the emergency retraction method (what to do when the motor fails and you have to close it). I learned a lot about them. I also learned that the latest slideouts are simpler and way more robust. For what I saw, the ones i liked were the mechanical (electric motor) from 2006-7 and later. Hydraulic might be better, but I personally don't believe it.
For me, if it is problem free when I purchase the unit and if I know what to do in an broken condition, I have absolutely no reservation about having them.
On another note, we have a couple of motorhomes we rent out, both have no slideouts. We have learned that they are delicate equipment, easy to break, difficult to repair on the road, and consume A LOT of CCC.
