This is my "slide out".. :) I don't have one on my trailer, and don't miss one either.. ;)

Okay, it's outside, but that's the point.. :) I've done this when it's cold and raining too... Except, I'm under the awning.. :)
Sure, when it gets windy, I have to retire inside, but that's part of the 'adventure' too.. :)
I'm only a fair weather, seasonal camper, so the outdoors is more important than anything and I go 'camping' to get outdoors..
When the weather gets bad, I determine my need to be 'camping' or not... I've left early before, because at some point it just becomes too much..
But, when I stay and have conditions where I enjoy 'camping', that's all I need..
Everyone has their own definition of "camping" for them, so that's all that matters.. How I "camp" and how you "camp" isn't relevant.. What matters is what works for YOU..:)
