- popeyemthExplorerBoiling water poured down the drain softens/loosens the nasty soap scum
Follow in 5 minutes with another pan full to flush it clean. - moose888ExplorerGo to hardware store and ask them for a drain blow out bag that attaches to your garden hose and flush out the drain. The principle is the water blows up the bag which tightens in the hole then the water squirts out a small hole at a high pressure. They make different sizes so make sure you buy the right size.
- rustellExplorerCleaned it out today with a small flexible snake..Nasty stuff in there..

Here you go. - Wally_WalleyeExplorerAfter you clear it I would suggest you get one of those screen strainers made for drains. Come in differant sizes. It is amazing how much hair and fuzz it stops from going down you shower drain. I use a kelly clamp (surgical instrument to clean ours it is small enough to get down there and when you lock it, it crabs onto the hair wad and pulls it out.
- dennyidaExplorerHI from Denny and Ida, just wanted to thank every one on the forum that gave ideas and suggestions on the caster on our E-450 granite ridge. It improved the handeling a lot. my next move is for the safe-stear. Also thank you for the ideas on the shower drain. I just finished cleaning out the drain about an hour ago. works good as new. Hope all have a good weekend and we will see you on the road or in camp. Denny and the wee blond Ida
- Vet_ManExplorerRemove the drain screen usually one screw in the middle. push a garden hose as us mentioned into the drain as as far as you can. Hard pack a wet rag around the hose so the water can only go down the drain. while holding the hose have someone turn it on easy then full blast. Water will blow blockage into tank. Make sure there is room in the tank for the water
- joe_b_Explorer IIAs popeyemth says there is a tool(s) made for this job. I just cleaned out our bathroom sink drain with one this morning. I bought two types from Amazon. Just search for "drain cleaning tool" and they have the flat barbed ones and the long brush ones. I like to use the barbed one first, then follow up with the brush one. Not a job for a person with a weak stomach though. LOL
I have used clothes hangers before but get one stuck in a drain and then you have a real project to fix. The tools from Amazon are less than $5 each. - popeyemthExplorerYou can get a flexible barbed plastic snake like tool at big box stores to run down the drain the plastic barbs snag any hair when pulled out
