Sofa?

I ended up buying a convertible sofa from Walmart which just so happened to be the right width. Not super comfy, but the boy likes it.
The slide is higher, and the front feet land outside the slide. So I added rollers to the front feet, which seem to work great using the slide. And they add up to about the right height.

If your slide has a raised floor, don't forget to factor in the height difference when looking at residential furniture. The residential furniture may be too high to sit on comfortably if your feet can not touch the floor.

Many sofa's and recliners have removable backs that make getting them through a motorhome door much easier.

We also have been having a problem replacing our sofa. We're on the second one (this one 4 years) since 2001 and both have been uncomfortable to sit on and to sleep on. We call it the "cardboard bed". I always sit in the same spot to watch tv and the dog has the rest of the couch. The cushions always get too uncomfortable and squashed. I'm trying to find one approx 70" wide with storage underneath but haven't found one yet that will last more than a couple years. Will try the websites mentioned in these posts. What we have been doing to inflating a twin airbed when someone wants to stay with us - one person on the couch and one person on the airbed. I can't use a regular futon because most are 78" wide and that would cut into the space I need for my dining room chair. We also have been pushing around the idea of building our own sofa but that would involve high density foam and I know that would squash down after awhile. I may try to pick up a cheap sofa sleeper used to see if it is even possible to get anything like that in there! LOL. Where there is a will.....

we were in the same situation as you are. ours came with out a dinette booth, bed mattress and a jack knife sofa. The mattress we had made from a mattress shop which ended up way more reasonable than any place on line. The dinette booth I made and had cushions made and the sofa I originally order from amazon but latter found out the same shop the sold us the mattress was a distributor for that brand of jack knife sofa, so we bought it from him for a better price. If you can fit a quality sofa sleeper in there do it. Our jack knife sofa is not comfortable to sit for long let alone to sleep on, for our grand children its fine. Maybe the more expensive ones are better. All sofa sleepers are bolted together some place in there.

How about a futon: it can be put together in place, and the mattress is more comfortable than a folding bed. I mention it because we just vacationed with kids and grandkids. The adults put a futon cushion on the coach to make it more comfortable. We then carried the pad to the back bed in the daytime to keep it out of the way. Just an idea.

I would look at IKEA. They have some cheap and not-so-cheap sofa options, some sofa sleepers, some unfold, but the good thing is that most of them can be shipped in flat boxes and put together INSIDE the MH. Most of them are firmer than a regular sofa, but they are comfortable.

I am thinking about taking our sofa bed out of the 5'er and replacing with a couple of comfy chairs. We have a bunk house that will sleep 9 without the sofa bed, so it is pretty useless. It hasn't been pulled out since we purchased it two years ago.

Check with a local upholstery shop. They can probably make you a 72" sofa, with storage underneath, for less than you would pay for RV furniture.

who are you going to force to sleep on a jack knife sofa? dreadful.
