Some navigation help please (NC to Longs, SC)

Somehow I don't trust the GPS as last time it took me some small towns and small roads...We will be going from the OBX to Longs SC...probably stopping first night in Selma at RVACATIONS..great overnight place and wife likes JR one exit down on 95...the GPS is telling us Route 17.....I like smooth driving and really don't like stop/go/35 mph stop/go etc...Can someone get me a good easy drive into Longs and Willow Tree and is 17 the way to go?...Thank you...not fully familiar with roads going from OBX to the rest of NC.

You can get off I-95 onto future I-74, and go to 410, to 701. 701 runs you to SC 9 and down to Longs.

410, and 701 are 2 lane roads. But have little traffic, and few stoplights. A easy drive.

+1 on this route. This is the way we go all the time from Raleigh.

  • Head down I-95 to the Latta exit. Take 38 which will turn into 501 and you can get on 22 which will take you to Longs before you get into N. Myrtle Beach. Don't go as far south as Florence.

You can get off 95 sooner near Lumberton and take mostly 2 lane roads down to Longs but the 38 to 501 route will be easier and all four lane.
  • Us17 is filled with traffic lights. It might be a better drive to take I95 from Selma to Florence and then cut off to go the Longs, SC. A little longer drive then US17, but it bypasses the US17 traffic jams.
