Sony camera monitor

Sony monitor works well driving down the road soon as you put coach in reverse it goes blank. Put coach in neutral from reverse camera and monitor work well. Any thoughts as to why it will not work in reverse? Thanks in advance.

  • If all else fails, just cut the trigger wire that becomes hot when the coach is in reverse.

    Gazelle05,
There are some systems that use two triggers for the camera. One is hot when the ignition is on and, the other is when it's put into reverse. It's been a while since I messed with mine which, may be very close to your system due to the fact that our coach is an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the 330HP CAT and, it's also got the original Sony system in it.

And, I've had the wiring to the monitor out a couple of times and, if I'm not mistaken, as stated, there's two trigger wires for the picture. Maybe, it's possible that you've either blown a fuse for that reverse trigger wire or, it fell out of the back of the monitor, just guessing here. Good luck.

  • I believe that some of the Safari RV's used to use the overhead TV as the rear view monitor. It would ONLY come on when the vehicle was in reverse. It sounds like your coach has something hooked up backwards when they changed the monitor.
