I got as close to the left barrier as possible and said to my wife I do not think I have it.
Call me contrarywise, if you knew you were not going to make it, why not just continue on and take a different exit? A few more minutes to get home and save $6000. You are responsible for the safe conduct of the motorhome including where it cannot go, right?
Take responsibility for your own actions. Nobody damaged your RV except you. Be bigger than the blame game. You knew you would not make it and still went for it. Yea, maybe it was too narrow; maybe there should have been a sign that said 'motorhomes and trucks don't use this exit'. But there wasn't. And this also has absolutely nothing to do with California. It is about highway construction anywhere including Oregon.
