we are going to spend a month next year on the southern Oregon coast and have been looking for a place , but there are so many its difficult to choose one,Area would be from Florence to brooking, full hookups, have a 40ft with slides and two dogs, need to have a place with grass, as one of the pups has feet problems. , just want to relax , look at the ocean and do as little as possible.I have looked at rvparkreviews, but am looking for some personal experience , not into kids and pools.thanks for the help

Just got back from that area. Two places come to mind, but one of them a little north of Florence. The Bay of Newport Rv Park is great, but a few miles north of your parameter. The other is just south of Reedsport in Winchester Bay. Winchester RV Resort is a wonderful place to stay for a month. Grass at each site, views of the ocean and bay. Where ever you end up...it is all beautiful and enjoyable.

We've enjoyed the Oregon coast for years and really enjoy staying in their state parks. You'd need to do some checking about access for a 40' motorhome, but we've stayed in a 33' fifth wheel and a large truck with no issues. I would recommend Humbug Mountain state park for your consideration. Most parks feature full hookups, and those along the coast have easy beach access, even if the sites are not on the beach itself.

Another vote for Winchester Bay. One of the nicest public RV parks you'll see.al

We stayed at the Honey Bear Campground and RV Resort and enjoyed our stay there. It is located a few miles north of the California border right on the coast. The owner puts on a dinner show that we enjoyed. Safe travels.JD

Check out Cape Blanco State Park between Coos Bay and Brookings. Very peaceful, with secluded sites surrounded by trees. Excellent spot to "sit back and do nothing."

Best keep secret in Florence is Harbor Vista Campground which is operated by Lane County. Access the Lane County website to make reservations. The campground overlooks the bay and the ocean, the sites are very secluded. Each site has 50 amp and water and there is a dump station at the entrance. Lots of grass for your pups.

If you've never been on the Oregon coast you might also consider spending two weeks south and two weeks north....lots to see in both directions. We love the state parks.

People choose private parks for more amenities. Cable, WiFi, laundry rooms, to name a few. Many are paved. We use them as a base to explore the areas.

Private parks also often have fish cookouts, potlucks and BBQs.
The one we stay at has coffee each morning and social hour daily.

As for the winter yes there are storms, spectacular storms!
We enjoy them. Average winter low are in the 40s and plenty of sunshine between storms.

Anyone spend a Winter in one of these coastal parks?

The temps look reasonable, but I've heard it gets very stormy in Winter.

We have made many trips along the Oregon coast and have stayed at some great places but Winchester bay RV Resort is by far our favorite. This resort is very popular so one generally needs to make reservations a couple months ahead. Aslo a couple places very near the park for crabbinbg and many other area attractions and friendly folks.

We stayed at Harris Beach SP a couple of nights this spring. Really nice park and close to Brookings for supplies, etc. Only negatives were the narrow roads and not very big sites.

I think it was built before 40-footers and slide-outs became the norm. With our 32-footer with slides, we managed just fine.

We go to Florence about once a year.

I'd suggest reservations in the summer because the sand dunes draw a TON of campers.
