Mounted spares are problematic...different rims for rear duals compared to front steers. We typically don't carry a spare, but I have an unmounted spare that I purchased 2yrs ago for our trip to Newfoundland. Figured I could get someone to change/mount it roadside, but I was worried about being able to source the right size tire.
I know a lot of folks on here pride themselves on doing it all on their own, but frankly, I don't care to horse a tire around, and our rig isn't diesel, so no onboard compressor, and I don't want to carry one with me, along with the heavy duty impact wrench to torque to 450lbft.
Any truck service can unmount/mount a tire roadside, as long as you have the tire, so that's our plan should we need it.
