I fall into the "can't worry about everything" camp and a spare falls into that category. To big, to heavy, and I still need to wait for roadside assistance so the gain is minimal. I have better use for bay storage than to carry something I probably will never need.
Two ways to get a flat tire. A blow out and just a leak. If it's just a leak, the TPMS will catch it and I can probably put in more air and continue to a shop or a safe place to stop. A blow out is more of a nuisance but i I look at the probabilities....it's way down the list.
Than, don't forget you have a toad which can be used. Conceivably you could disconnect, take off to a tire store, pick one up and have it ready to install. In the US, even in the "middle of nowhere" really isn't.
