Spare Tire

Hello!

Rookie RVer :C here......asking for feedback regarding carrying a spare tire in a 30ft Class A. I don’t ever image trying to change a spare by myself in an emergency, and my hope is the road side assistance would be able to help. I want to remove it with the goal of having more storage space.

Your feedback.........

In a class A you are better off to carry a little used credit card and a Coach NET membership or something like it (Roadside assistance)
If you pop a casing a mobile tire guy can be summoned to fix it where you stopped.

In fact if you have 22.5's and you take it to a tire store they will call in their mobile tire guy to do it. May happen with 19s as well.

22.5 inch spare will not fit in my workhorse.. 19.5 would but I have the 22.5's 2200 and change of 22.5's as of last month when I put on all new rubber.
  • Don’t carry a spare tire (even not inflated) and you’ll be paying whatever the repair guy wants (even 5 times a normal price). You’re at their mercy.
  • I agree---one time you need it and don't have it will make up for all the times you hauled it around for nothing. I'll carry mine
  • Same here, Only needed it a few times in our many years of travel but very glad it was there when needed. All the times needed we were many miles and hours from anywhere.
  • Backside Flathead Lake, Montana. Blowout 27' ClassA outside rt.rr. dully. BOY were we happy that we had a mounted spare on board. Had the 'card' Had the phone Repair guy was really glad we had the spare.

    JM2¢ ~~ YMMV ~~~
  • not me, not all rs are going to have your size tire on the shelf. and on a week end or holiday you,ll just have to sit.but you can all ways find a guy to change yours, even goober pyle.

agree. we haven't carried a spare since 2000. a cellphone and road service membership card is much more space efficient. :)
