Could be cracks in the fiberglass. More likely, just cracks in the gel coat. Gel coat is much more brittle than FG. It is also harder and shiner, which is why it is used.
First step is to take it to a shop that does FG work-- boat yards come to mind.
Have them determine what is damaged. Gel coat can be ground down and redone and guys familiar with doing this can get a pretty good match.
If the FG is cracked, more will have to be ground out and re-fiberglassed with mat/roving.
