I guess I'm almost ready to give up on the split adjustable bed. I've found two sources that can supply the beds that I need in the size I need to fit on the existing king platform. I found out that the total weight of these units is as much as 350 pounds including the new mattress weights, so after finding that information out, I email Tiffin and was advised that amount of weight would probably burn up the slideout motor in a short period of time. Bummer! If I go ahead with an install and loose a motor, I'll have to remove the bed assemblies in order to change the motor. Then there is the issue that owners keep having with the Schwintek slides in general.
I had a cabinet maker ready to make two drawers to use in the existing space under the bed that is now storage so that we wouldn't lose all of that space. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point. Also, Tiffin's response to me was to not store very much under the bed.
The web site of one of the suppliers (Axel Bloom in California) shows a picture of a new looking Phaeton that had a similar install. I'm going to try to get them to provide me some contact information for that owner, but I doubt that they will do that. They also show a 5th wheel installation.
