This is definitely interesting. In all of the Los Angeles basin there is not one place that knows or another place that can fix a Sprinter? Amazing! Is there a Sprinter owners group that you can tap into to get the information you need to get your van fixed? I am not sure people on this forum trying to help you with suggestions are 'flak' but maybe that is your definition of flak.
