Squealing Swintek slide

I have a new Winnebago Sightseer motorhome. The passenger side slide is making a horrible noise. Like rubber rubbing together. The smallest bump and it squeals. Not squeak but much louder. Have it at dealer today. They think it needs to have some special lubrication on the mechanism. Anyone here experienced this. Never had any other slides make this terrible sound in three former motorhomes. Larger slide HWH and bedroom Swintek do not make any sound.

The tech at my dealer advises that they lubed them well and drove the moho and it was very quiet. So hope that works. Not sure how often I will need to do it. Every six months would be ok.

I have had to do mine after each rain or about every 2 trips unfortunately.

  • Scwinktek advises to keep their slides clean from debris by using soapy water and rising it off. No lubes, no grease, no silicone,
etc. Don't believe me, contact Schwintek directly!!

    The squeal is in transit.

Then they need to check the sidewall diameter. Doug

Mine does that. I use slide seal lube on the walls and seals of the slide and that works. Rain washes it off of course so it needs to be reapplied.

Thanks. I saw that and dealer mentioned bling it. I wondered if anyone has had real experience with this and if luring actually fixed the squeal totally. I won't drive it until the sound is gone.

Are you saying it makes this noise while traveling? Or it makes this noise while extending and retracting? The Lube procedure is just for noise while extending and retracting. Tiffin older Breeze motorhomes used a Scwintek mechanism and THEY had such a noise while in transit. The problem was that the Breeze used a 1 1/4 inch thick sidewall and the Scwintek mechanism was designed for a 1 1/2 inch thick sidewall. This cause the mount rail flange to slightly twist in transit and caused a horrible squeak. Tiffin's fix for just these few models was to have us install a steel angle to reinforce the thinner wall to prevent the flange from twisting. Tiffin re-engineered the slide systems on later and current models to a Hydraulic system to prevent these problems. I would be curious if this Winne has the thinner sidewall. Doug
