I once gave my old vehicle to my daughter since no one would give me a decent trade-in on it. Put down the sale price as $10.
Went with her to the tax office, they took one look at the bill of sale, punched the VIN into the computer and showed us the 'Kelly Blue Book' page for that vehicle on the computer. She had to pay the sales tax on 'Low Wholesale' value of the car.
