We have stayed at hundreds of Wal-Mart, Flying J, Home Depot and rest areas over the last 14 years of traveling full time. An earlier poster made a very good point. If you own a coach without a built-in generator, this kind of camping may not be for you if you need A/C over night but other than that, the coach batteries should allow you to overnight very comfortably (this isn't camping, it's an arrive late and leave early option).
We do have a generator and we use it anytime we need it. When it's really hot out that means we will run the generator all night and finding and using a campground "might" have been less expensive but getting there and back on course again simply might not make any sense. It's all about what makes sense for you and has nothing at all to do with what other think you should or should not be doing. Wal-Mart specifically invites RVers to over-night in their parking lots when local regulations allow. There is no reason to listen to the haters when the option is not only there but welcomed!
