With destinations in the southwest, and camping in wintertime there, we're part of the snowbird group that "must" leave home and bad weather behind each year. We utilize casinos, Walmarts, and on occasion highway rest stops, during trips of long distances. But those are simply overnight stays. At destinations, about 40 percent of the time we stay in RV parks but over half the time we spend happily camped in the desert somewhere. We select a spot with a few criteria in mind-other RVs should be there (and usually friends we know who will also be there) and we stay away from parking close to others, and certainly away from any rig that looks like it will be using a generator: 5th wheel rigs usually do, and motorhomes that don't have solar panels will as well. In the desert its usually possible to move if something comes up that warrants a move, although once you're set up that becomes inconvenient. Anyone that invests a "bazillion" on a motorhome is losing out if it does not include a good measure of solar power.
