Staying in parking lots??
We are new to RV'ing and will be headed to CT at the end of May. While traveling to your destination, how common is it to pull over in a Walmart parking lot or truck stop to sleep instead of paying to...

I do two three types of "Travel".. Short trips (<100 miles) I'll set up and stay a while (1-2 weeks)
Long travel I may stop before sundown, or not,,,, IF it's a flying J I will be filling ye old gasoline tank before I park.. That way I know the generator is well fed if I need it (And I may) I may also choose to "Eat out" At the attached diner. (Which for 2 people costs more than a most campgrounds).
If it's well after dark, any handy suitable parking lot will do.. But in the last few years I've only stopped after dark once... And that was Thanksgiving night (Black Friday Eve) passed a Wal*Mart I planned to shop at and .. No parking, Found a supermarket, closed for the night, with an Express Gas (Card lock station) and parked there.. Left before the store opened in the AM and found another Wal*Mart,, This one had lots of parking (7:30 am) as all the Black Friday Nuts had come and gone.. place was a bit of a shambles but the Employees were working to put it right.. Got the item I wanted, Empied my gift card at the Murphy's. and less than 200 miles later pulled into South Cove (Oconee County Parks) paid my fee, said Hi to Fred and Betty and set up.
