About 15 years ago we made arrangements with a retired farmer (a friend's uncle) to store in his "tractor shed", which is actually a 50'x 100' pole barn. Started with small fiver there, now big fiver and truck as well.
Eventually he moved and sold the place to a young couple, we kept the rental agreement AND he is a Heavy Duty Truck mechanic! Works for me on the side - great arrangement.
Our place is a mile off the state highway on a gravel road (only drawback), out of sight and safe as houses. Twelve miles from our home. We pay $120 per month year round, even though we are gone for 5 or 6 months in the winter.
When I was storing in the winter I used to take the four batteries out of the truck, bring them home and keep on battery tender, now in summer I just disconnect them. The fiver has AGMs so I just disconnect those and leave them.
