I park in a storage lot, city code does not leave an option. Batteries running down can be a problem, as they can self discharge even while not connected.
Security hasn't been a problem where I am now, but in a previous storage location somebody used the ladder to get to the roof, pulled off a vent lid, and came in to sleep. Left by the door.
Fridge cool down, loading, maintenance, I can put it in my drive for three days. My problem is the code, not the neighbors.
In think in this state, if you've used that extra foot of property for 20 years, and not been challenged, you might claim it. Don't know about Oregon, but In Oklahoma and Texas we need to be careful about where neighbors put things, especially fences.
