Stovetop Cover Ideas

Question

We NEVER use the gas stovetop in our PW Plateau, but it didn't come with a cover.  We'd like to make some kind of a cover so we can use it for counter space, and also prevent small items from falling down the burners, but don't know where to start.  Better yet, anyone know where we could purchase one?

I measured the clearance I needed for a cover and made one with wood.  Go to home depot and look around, you might come up with something.

We found a plastic serving tray that was an exact fit to cover our stovetop.We put a drying mat on top of the inverted tray, it works great and is also used to carry items out to the table.
