I have a question. With many owners installing carriers on the backs of a Class B's can the rear doors be opened from the inside in case of a fire, or do you have an emergency exit window in the rear?
I believe Federal law mandates a marked rear exit from a bedroom, if the kitchen is between the bedroom and the other fire exit. If your traveling solo, your choice, but if you carry passengers not having a working rear fire exit might be something to think about.
Even if the rear doors are not blocked make sure the door is unlocked on the inside, so it can be opened in an emergency.
For people buying older units, make sure you have at least one fire extinguisher, and it has been recently certified.
I don't think the doors can be opened from the inside anyways on the Promaster. Not sure about MB, or what is coming on the Transit.
Not sure where you are getting this point of law - don't believe it exists. Generally, you must have two points of egress. That is accomplished by having 2 doors in the vehicle. If you think about it, we have have 5 doors on a B van - 2 in front, the side door and two in back. That is way more than a B+ van or a C. Most A class RV's and trailers only have 1. They get a pop-out window so they have their second way out.
