The Sprinter rear doors can be opened at anytime even if the van is locked up.
In looking at this photo it appears there is an inside latch to open the doors but it is on the passenger side door. Does the bathroom walls interfere with its operation? If so, bad design. To answer about emergency egress, the swing away feature is suppose to address that. The box should be swung out whenever parked in a campground and occupying the B.
