I agree with the OP's theory that streaming is the future but I don't agree with the assumption that this will be the future for the mobile user. Without the kind of high-speed unlimited services that are available to home users, the high cost and low speeds available to the mobile user will keep satellite TV as the premier source of this kind of programming for many, many years to come.
Someone mentioned limitations put on RVers by the parks that do provide free Wi-Fi and I just came upon one with the most restrictive I have seen. Here is the policy from the Marin RV park outside of San Francisco.
Our wi-fi is provided by TengoInternet and is free to our guests.
Downloading of videos, movies is not allowed; if you attempt to do this TengoInternet will block your account. If you are logged in for more than 2 hours you will also be blocked. If your account gets blocked it will stay blocked for 24 hours.
