OP here, let me try and corral this conversation back in. A few things: I am am trying to not only spark conversation but I am looking for a solution. I am NOT concerned about camping - well I am as a by product. I am concerned about streaming media, tv, interenet, programs, muusic etc. A one stop shop. I don't care if it's camping, at home, in a treehouse, or in my backyard. We have Satellite in the S&B. I have had Sat in the MH and was really disapointed with it. THe service itself is fine but where we camp and travel I found the dome worked about 40% of the time and that's being generous. Essentially it's a $1200 bump on the roof. For internet we have a dependacy for my work etc but the only service that seems to work is a 4g device. I am NOT interested in relying on hit and miss CG wifi with constraints. So I am paying for interenet, to work and care for personal business and I pay for DTV for media. With the invent of streaming media, and as it becomes more pronounced it's a viable option to combining both services into one. My jetpack works fine, it can stream pretty much anywhere I have traveled in the past few years. The technology is NOT the problem. The problem is cost. I was throwing a wide net to do 2 things: Confirm my suspicions that there isn't a true unlimited data plan, and if there were is it cost effective. THats pretty much it. Don't really care about a ton of tangent stuff in Japan or whether I should or should not be watching TV or taking a hike. My device works, it would provide what I need and as streaming media grows it will just get better. THe problem is cost. And to me it seems like there is a huge disconnect between the yes it's available, but it's not practical. I remember seeing 15' Sat dishes in peoples yards not long ago. Brick phones that were insanely expensive not only to own but to get limited service. Technology evolves. I just struggle with what is a perfect solution to do away with Sat, cable etc, with the exception of cost. I don't have contraints on how much DirectTV I watch. I don't have contraints on how much I talk on either cell or land line. I dont't have constraints on how much over the air TV I get. I get that the supply is the factor here and it may not be cheap. But lets be honest, every cellular provider out there could offer unlmited plans. I guess I was looking to see if it existed yet.
