A particular motor may/may not be OK with lower voltage, check the specs. I'm OK with a slightly lower cut off voltage and it does reduce the number of low voltage disconnects.
Problem is they don't cut off on low voltage until 103V
Voltage can hang at 104V for hours and never go below 103V.
YES US Utility standard is 120V +/- 10%.
That is why below 108V I shut down A/C compressor.
Autoformer in-line between pedestal/source and surge protector would be nice set up.
