Synthetic Oil - Do you use it in Cummins Engine?

Anyone did switched to synthetic oil? I wonder if there is any bad effect to switching to synthetic oil on a 2003 Cummins. My engine book says we can do it. I would like to put 10W40 year long. It ...

Like many sales ads, it is just a feel good thing, Having only used the Shell 15W-40 in all my Diesel engines, the vehicles wear out before the engines.

That! Synthetics are better...but in almost all cases, it just doesn't matter, because regular oil is good enough.
