I use a manual setup tripod and dish. With 50 feet of cable its very versitile in setting up in most locations. Some places with lots of trees around, any system will have problems.
The most important things to remember that will ensure quick setups is to get the mounting mast set up vertically (plumb) and the two dish angles (skew & elevation) set up correctly. Using a 10-12 inch long torpedo level, placed on the mast, get plumb in two directions 90 degrees apart. Also be sure to have the two angle settings on the dish adjusted for the location because they do change and even a small difference will means setup problems.
Once I disciplined myself to do these things the setup became very dependable and quick. I also use the satellite finder device to get the azmith angle set to the peak signal input.
Also, I have a gallon zip lock bag with various thicknesses of wood shim to block under the feet of the tripod when plumbing the mast.
Works for me and is very versitile as to setup location.
What model is your KVH? hmm, quoted the wrong post and cannot delete?
