The tailgater is a small, lightweight antenna - which has obvious advantages, but due to the small size, is limiter to the strength of signal it can acquire.
There is a significant signal loss in the co-ax at each connection, so depending on you set up, you are probably best setting up for direct connection whenever possible. Or update to a better antenna - like the Pathway X2
