maybe one could do this 20 years ago? all I know for fact the below is untrue and totally illegal;; there is as I posted a Form E29B, Temporary Admission Permit, that is required if your not enrolled in the RIV program that will allow you to bring a us vehicle into Canada and only good for 30 days ;this notion that Jaxdad says that you simply drive the vehicle into Canada like its nothing is simply put not true at all and the law clearly states if allowed its 30 days not 6 months;;I mean seriously think about it? if it was as stated everyone in every province would be doing so?? as stated a few times I in my entire life have never heard of or seen such a thing nor do I believe one fraction of this story to be true
OK now all the BS lets PLEASE just STOP I mean come on how stupid do you think people are here ?? you never ever revealed your a US citizen honest to god man this is crazy posting on your part
and unless you have been filing US tax returns all along you will soon be getting a huge US tax fine and bill under the newest US tax law
No forms required, the process is to explain, if they even ask, 50% of the time they don’t, the CBSA agent at the border that it’s YOUR vehicle that you will be taking back to the US on your next trip.
The CBSA agent if they ask about the US plates, might ask a date of return, if you know tell them otherwise just say ‘on my next trip south’. They usually say it needs to be less than 6 months from now.
They may say ‘you’re not supposed to just drive around, straight home & back’, you say something like ‘yes I know’.
The number of occupants is moot, bring the MIL and the dog, it’s fun.
Cost, zero, filings when heading back south, zero. BTW, why would you need to file something or have a ‘confrontation’ when taking a US vehicle back into the US? That is silly double talk meant to confuse or distract from the reality.
Actually I do know about entering the US as a US citizen. I have dual citizenship, I cross the border northbound on one passport, and south on the other, as the law requires.
