The Dream Came True

This post is for those who say that there aren't enough follow-up posts on this forum. Enjoy:

Well over a year ago I had a dream -- to have a Class B van of my own. Its primary purpose would be to let me go to conferences in a more relaxed manner, stopping off on the way there or back whenever I wished. No more uncomfortable hotels with noisy kids running up and down the halls late at night, or noisy drunks knocking on your door even later. Oh, and safe and comfortable accommodations for a tiny canine traveling companion.

About a year ago, I purchased the van that would become IVan -- short for "I love this Van!"

Last week was the absolute realization of the dream. I had planned to attend a conference in Reno, with a chance to go up the back side of the Sierras to experience the fall color. My favorite place in the world is the June Lake Loop, so I always plan a stop there.

The trip was unbelievably perfect. I dry-camped all the way, with one night of genuine stealth camping tossed in. The conference was more interesting than expected. And the aspens at June Lake were in full glowing sunshiny golden yellow -- just look at my new signature picture.

I have taken other trips in IVAN before this, but this one was perfect -- the realization of the dream.

May all of your RV dreams be as happily fulfilled as mine

  • There is only one problem!!!! You will end up fired when they catch you staring out the window at your new rig and they have to say your name a dozen times before you snap out of it. :)

That is a nice set up. Congratulations to you and be safe.
  • Great to hear about your trip, and the photo is beautiful. Nice looking Free Spirit! Glad it's worked out well for you.
  • I have requested that my remains(ashes) be spread in Rush Creek below Silver Lake in the June Lake loop. My favorite spot as well. So glad you got the rig of your dreams.
  • Glad you followed thru on your dream........lots of memories made and more to happen.

    Love the changing of colors.
We try to do a timed fall camping trip every year.

    Thanks for sharing.
This is definitely a WHOO-HOO post

Usually the issue with follow-up posts/updates are with those that have PROBLEMS, ask for help and then are never heard from. So no one knows what if anything helped :S
  • It really is everything it is cracked up to be. Mine is called RVan/ARVan, aka Papa Bear. Some days I just sit in the back as it sits outside our house and enjoy. BTW, my interior lights are acting wonky and blowing the little fuses and my trip last weekend to visit relatives had me too much in the dark so I got this strip of flexible tape LEDs and it is incredible. The sticky tape doesnt hold really well, but it comes with little remote and I cant believe how bright it is, can change the colors, dim the light, run different programs. I am getting itchy to head out once more. If I didnt have company coming to visit for a week (Papillon person) I would be heading to northern Wisconsin to camp in the colors. Ah well.
