I park my longbed truck the same way.......otherwise the back end or front end (depending on if I pull in or back in) of truck is sticking out in the 'drive lane' of parking lot.
And I don't care if any one else likes it or not.......:B
When I was a youngster I had a 'beater'.
Parked in parking space and upon return guy was getting out of his 'high dollar fancy sedan.
He opened door and banged into side of my door.
I yelled.......HEY!
His reply..it's just a scratch. Besides on that piece of junk it doesn't matter.
