Yes, it has been stated many times on this forum to stay away from older coaches as many things are falling apart and you will spend more than the coach is worth. But, if I bought a new (or nearly new) the depreciation would cost me more that I have spent on my coach in total including all repairs/upgrades.
If a coach is maintained and upgraded as things wear out or break, those that have a soundly built body will last a very long time. In my case, my coach was built in Feb of 1976. It is too small for most people but it is the right size for me and so I have just kept up the repairs, etc. over time like many FMC coach owners and our coaches run and handle as well (or better) than they did when new.
I am going a step further in that I decided to upgrade the drive train from a 1976 version (Chrysler 440, three speed Load-Flite tranny} to a 2006 Duramax 6.6LTD with a six speed Allison. Doing this is much less expensive than buying a newer coach and I like the one I have.
Since I have an older coach, I tend to notice them in my daily travels (35,000 miles) since April 1, 2013) and there are a LOT of older coaches still running the roads.
