The biggest issue is water leaks and frame rust. My parents had a '78 Midas that the frame rusted on, which pulled the roof apart as it began to sag. Otherwise, they may still own it. What you really end up with is many coaches that were not glued together well enough, so they leak. Once they leak, they are done. So it depends on a combination of how well the coach was built to begin with, or how well it was kept after to prevent problems. My coach is 30 years old, its on its 3rd engine. I don't worry about leaks. I do worry about rust.
Agreed. A thorough roof inspection of the sealant/caulking is paramount in keeping the water at bay. I generally go up on my roof two to three times per year and remove the Max Air vent covers, inspect the Dicor sealant around everything from solar panels to vents and antennas and if any cracks are showing in the sealant it gets addressed immediately.
Water damage scares the hell out of me which is why I am so paranoid and probably overly critical of keeping up on the maintenance of my roof.
Mike.
