My step-son is from Cherokee heritage. he has worn shoes only when he has too.Only man I know that paints 30 feet up on a ladder in bare feet.
Needing to go to Walmart for paint supplies he taped rags on his feet so they would let him in, his rear view mirror is a hand-held girls mirror with sparkles taped to the broken one, his antenna, of course a coat hanger.
I love the guy, his kids call his repairs "jenks" don't know the meaning and hope to not offend anyone.
The wire around the nut is a good one, i have used putty in a box wrench then pushed the nut into that, if need be even used the open end side. In a pinch reach for some grease nearby, maybe from a ball joint or something and use that.
the taping of a 50 cent fly swatter..........geez...
