My thanks to each of you for your thoughtful response. I will definitely be spending time on the electrical issue. It would be a very bad thing to want to spend time with family and friends and not be able to reasonably do so because we can't use our coach. And you are right, running the generator for hours on end would make you an unwelcome guest fast!
My reason for a 43 to 45 ft motorhome with slides is the desire to have a home that is large enough so we don't have a cramped feeling. My wife and I have always enjoyed each others company, so being close and around each other is a plus and never a negative issue. But we want to be able to have room for ourselves and have 4 or 5 people over without feeling of being claustrophobic.
The last time my wife and I were in a motorhome was a visit we made to Tampa, FL and stopped into LazyDays. We were there for the best part of the day going into a number of new and used motorhomes, 5th wheels and trailers. We new right then a there that a motorhome was for us. That was 1996 and I know motorhomes have changed a little since then!
So I will look forward to looking at smaller units just so they do not have a "small unit" feeling.
One question I have is you see 40 ft DP with 8 rear wheels and others of the same or close to the same size with 4 rear wheels. What is the decision making process to decide on one from the other? I am clueless on this issue and would appreciate your help with it.
You guys have done this, you've been there and done that, so your input is invaluable to me! I just want to buy the right rig from the get go. I ready a quote from someone saying "buy your 3rd coach the 1st time out"! I want to spend the money for what I want the 1st time... That to me seems as the only reasonable thing to do. Oh and I don't want to be blown all over the highway for every truck and wind guest that goes by.
Thank you so much one and all,
Harry
PS. With the slides in can you always walk back to the bedroom/bath when you're underway?
