I always say "Buy more MH than you think you need... ONE TIME. Kind of hard to buy more than 45' and do not let those that say it's too big change your mind. Retired FT equals twice the husband on 1/2 the money in 1/10th the space.
While we are only half timers spending three months each winter in Fla and usualy three months out West boondocking 5-6 days/week without reservations. I do not find my rig to be too big. Yes if you show up Friday afternoon thinking you'll find a site big enough will not work but show up Sunday afternoon or Monday and I'm able to find a site big enough. Often it's the road and trees that are a bigger problem than the sites so some times we take the toad first and check things out.
AS for getting enough power at friends I would make an adapter from the three prong dryer outlet to the four 50amp. With enough 50amp RV power cord you should be fine until your friends need to dry some clothes.
At 10 years on our Dynasty we are happy with it and see not reason to not enjoy it for another 10+. I'm biased towards the 10 airbag chassis that Prevost, Newell, Foretravel, and Monaco/Beaver/Holdiay Rambler use because of it's excellent handling. In June I plan on doing the 2200 miles to Glacier in three days as my Dynasty is that easy to drive.
