Thanks Sowego,
Do you have any idea how much $ it costs to install a 50 amp circuit?
Regarding the GPS mapping, is there any GPS or computer mapping service that you can also get the weather along the way? It would be great to be able to plan a trip for next week and see what the weather will be along the way.

I agree with others--the cost of the 50 amp circuit and plug will depend on how far from the breaker box and how much the electrician charges to do the job. Just remember you need the plug box close enough to where you park the RV that you don't have to run a 50 amp extension cord (not safe to run that far, you'll have more of a power drop, and 50 amp extension cords are costly).
We have Co-Pilot live and have used De Lorme Streets for the laptop while in motion. Our versions are old so by now I'm sure there are other programs available and updated versions. I can't tell you if any program has active weather. You can download an App for the computer and smart phone for live weather conditions and forecast. It's also easy to just pull up The Nation Weather Service's,Weather Nation's or The Weather Channel's websites to watch active weather live or do so each day before departing for the regions you may travel though. I'm sure you are aware that some areas of the west don't have consistent cell phone coverage.
While on the road we have a weather radio plugged in 24/7 the same as we do at home. The downside is you'll need to have a map handy or watch it on a website or TV because all alerts are broadcast for counties you won't be familiar with while traveling. Then of course do find a local radio station for weather updates.
