Thanks J-Rooster,
One thing maybe you can help me with. What do the 6 rear wheels do for the motorhome that the 4 don't? Better stability, more weight?
Thanks again,
Harry
As I tried to post before...
The tag axle ADDs 10,000 pounds to the coaches GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating)
It typically increases both the actual weight of the coach, the weight it can carry (CCC) and the weight it can tow (GCVW)
Typically we see TAGs on coaches over 40 feet.
To some degree, this was due to a previous arbitrary federal rule maxing axle capacity at 20,ooo pounds. Anything with more that 20k in the back had to have a tag.
Some coaches as short as 36' have tags. (these are typically heavy and have cool things like auqahot)
But for the most part, 40' is the line. a forty footer is 2 axle 6 tire, a 43' has a tag axle.
Really though, it is a matter of weight. 33k = 13k front plus 20k rear. Anything higher needs (needed, they changed the law) a tag.
