Thor v Forest River

We own a forest river TT that we have had for 9 months zero issues. but have 2 different friends with the class A. Georgetown They are both happy with them.

We had very good luck with our Forest River Berkshire. With seven years of ownership we had practically no down time. It was a great unit. Those that attend the F.R.O.G. (Forest River Owners Group) get together in Elkhart raved about the techs swarming all over fixing anything and everything.

What is a nice floor plan good for when you can't use it because the unit is at the factory or dealership being repaired. I purchased a new Forest River product last spring and it has been in my possession 131 days and at the dealership or factory 194 days. Looks like another month or more before getting it back. Its been at the dealer since Sept. then to the factory the end of Dec. and work has not even begone yet. So be for warned if planing on full timing choose a more reputable manufacturer. Bought this unit on floor plan as this is what we liked but now regret it. Good luck with your search, my advice would be to take Thor and Forest River off your list.

I can't comment on Forest but a year ago I bought a new Thor class C. After only one trip (short) I knew I'd made a mistake. For the life of me I can't explain why I didn't look closer at workmanship before I bought. In short: I recently traded for a new Winnebago and, at this time, very pleased with it.

When it comes to RV’s and sturdiness, I look for the RV with the best or strongest seams!

Yes, I know other brands have better reputations, I just sold a Jayco TT that I loved and was great quality, but I am struggling to find floorplans that meet my requirements.

I am looking for a gas Class A that has the kitchen on the drivers side and free standing table that can be removed. I want to replace with small antique writing desk I have and a gate-leg type table that folds down much smaller, but can be opened for seating 4-6 people or for projects that require large flat workspace. I also hate using public washers and dryers, so washer/dryer connections are an absolute requirement. Oh yeah, since it is just me most of the time, I don't want or need a bath and a half. I would be open to a bunkhouse and removing the bunks (if they are not on driver side), but have found few bunkhouses with w/d connections,

If you can come up with other floorplans that meet this requirement, that I can get for around $80K and no more than 5 years old, please let me know. Coachmen made a couple several years ago, but they seem to have been discontinued around 2012.

less of the two evils is a hard one to choice from. thor bought out a lot of companies and thor is one who doesn't honor their warranty very well. now forest river are built like a paper bag. very light weight materials. we had a tech fall through a interior wall one day.

I'd hold out for a 2016 or newer with the better 6 speed transmission. Not a fan of Forest River and really despise anything with the Thor label (talked to too many dissatisfied owners).

I own a 2013 37ft. Georgetown and a friend of mine recently purchased a new 34ft Thor all Class A Gas.
I had three items to be repaired on my motorhome and all but two of them were non manufacturer items.
My friend with the Thor has virtually had to have his completely rewired and many other items to be repaired. Mind you this is a brand new motorhome. It is still in the shop. They have had this rig over a year now and had it out camping maybe at most twice.
You make your decision. We are very happy with our Georgetown.
