Thor Vegas 24.1

We are new Vegas 24.1 owners. Usual problems w/electrical but fixed by dealer. A HUGE issue for me - I travel alone with dogs - is the sofa sleeper bed. I cannot put it down myself, nor can I pull out/slip up rail/replace cotter pins. In short, the bed does not lie flat unless you do mechanical stuff to it. Anyone else experiencing this problem. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help

  • Good news. Thor actually called me and said they would authorize dealership to put more insulation in the engine compartment. I hope it makes a difference. But your idea is also a good one. I expect Thor has had other complaints about the engine noise.

    Thanks
  • Welcome to the club. It seems very few companies insulate the doghouse covers. I pulled mine off (Fleetwood Flair) and insulated it with a Dyna-mat like material from Summit Racing (they had a store in my town where I could look at it first). Made a huge difference. Sometimes just doing it yourself makes a problem go away with a lot less grief and fighting with someone. PLUS, you know it gets done right!
  • We previously had a BornFree 27' class C which we retired after 18 years of age, so we are also used to MH engine noise. Our Vegas is very noisy. We complained to the dealership, they drove it and said at 45+mph the engine was very noisy. The inspected and found very little insulation in the doghouse or engine compartment and said that was the problem. I do intend to speak with Thor about it. But was wondering if this is typical of this model. Re sofa bed, yes, I do use the bedroom. But will probably have times when two large crates will occupy both beds and I will need to use the sofasleeper. Sometimes I travel alone sometimes not.
  • Unless the engine is revving up we haven't found ours to be especially noisy. We can usually carry on a conversation. We are used to driving in a motorhome so it really doesn't bother us, and this one seems quieter than our previous V-10 A.
  • You travel alone with dogs but can't talk over the radio and state "we" and "us"??? I'm confused...

Also, what about using the bedroom?
  • Thanks for your help. The dealership moved the pins for us. You are right however, the couch does feel different. I guess I need to leave the pins up as I would be the one to have to reset them if we need to queen sleeper.
One other huge issue for us is the noise inside while driving. You can't hear the radio, talk or think for that matter. Have you noticed this, done anything about it. Dealership said there is very little noise insulation on the doghouse or engine interior.
  • Are you not using the bedroom?

With regards to the couch, get someone to help you transfer the pins to the second set of holes, and then you can leave it that way. It will leave the couch back a couple of inches lower but works fine. Bed will go in and out with no problems. We have tried both ways and prefer the higher back for sitting, but we only use the sofa for sitting and sleep on the oversized king in the bedroom.

    Hope this helps!
