Yes, there is a spring that glides inside the tube. You can try and inject WD 40 or similar inside. Tiffin has used that system for over 10 years and I have never had to lube it or had a customer have a problem with that part of the mechanism. Do NOT install any screws at the forward mount. It looks like Tiffin forgot to install screws there but if you do, the mechanism will then bind and not work correctly. They leave that screw out on purpose. Doug
