There could be large screws in the corners of the cover. If they are steel screws you can run a magnet all along the hatch cover and locate the screws, they are usually put right through the carpet and are hard to find. if the magnet doesn't find them, try tapping all around the top with a metal object and listening for a metallic sound when you find the screws
