Tire Minder vs TST tire pressure monitoring system?

Just ordered a new set from TST with the flow thru thingy so I can air up without removing them. Old TST system saved a tire or 2. Once I had 9 out of 10 sensors working. Guess which tire chewed up from low pressure that I didn't see (inside dual). Only issue I had was sensors seizing on the jeep but I live on the coast and everything corrodes here.

My TPMS has saved three tires.

First was from a bolt and the second from a screw picked up off the highway while traveling. The third was from a valve stem failure.

In all three cases the pressure was good before the trip was started.

No gimmick about it.

How "gimmicky" is it to get an early warning of a slow leak due to a nail, etc., or to get a high temp warning from a sticking brake caliper or a failing wheel bearing. Any one of those situations can end up costing far more than the cost of a TPMS if left to fail completely. I've had them all over the years I've had the TPMS installed, as well as incurring significant damage before it.

I check my tire pressures every day when we are on the road, so I LOVE a tire pressure monitoring system. In addition I like to have a system that screams at me if I have pressure loss in my toad.

We have had the Tire Minder for several years now with excellent service both of the product and the company. Prior to that we had a Pressure Pro system, which likewise gave excellent service. I have read entries by many people who use the TST system and seem to like it too. As a result I would say that they are all 3, good systems.

I've been using the TST system for 5 years now and not one time ever needed teflon tape to seal the sensor threads. You are not putting on lug nuts. They are very, very tiny threads and should only require very slight finger tightening. Do more than that one time and maybe those O-rings do get crushed real bad.

You should NEVER have to use any artificial sealing method with a sensor. Try PressurePro, they are great and the most reliable system I've used.

They are very, very tiny threads and should only require very slight finger tightening. Do more than that one time and maybe those O-rings do get crushed real bad.

I have the Tireminder and it does not require any sealant. They send you new batteries and O-rings for the asking each year and their customer service has been great.

Which system is newer? Either one require the use of a sealant, like teflon tape to not leak air at the valve stem? Is one easier to set up than the other? Have another vehicle you could use the extra set on? We have a 7 year old PressurePro
System (8 out of 14 sensors we own still work) on our B+. Then we have a one year old TST set on the Phaeton with an extra TST monitor and sensors on our Sport Trac. Each system on each vehicle has saved us a least one tire and or damage to the vehicle.
