Tire Minder

Does anyone have experience using the Tire Minder wireless tire pressure monitoring system sold at CW? It's a little pricey but seems like a good idea to me. I wonder how accurate it is and if it's reliable?

  • I replaced all 10 batteries at about one year. One sensor stopped reading, and I found it was the battery. I purchased the batteries on Amazon, 2032's I think, at about a dollar a piece (approx.). Two screws to replace each, it took about 30 minutes, and that is because I cleaned the sensors and the battery contacts, and tested the batteries on each during the process. Again, this was on TireProtectorUSA (Im not pushing the brand, just relaying my experience)

I have the TST 507 for my motorhome. While it may or may not be the absolute best, it is in my opinion the best value when you consider the excellent customer service after the sale. I am hesitant to buy other than supplies from CW, in that the customer service is not considered by many to be up to par. Also, I have added TravelPal software to my laptop computer to help verify my tire pressure vs. loading needs and to determine TPMS high/low pressure set points. Very helpful.
  • Our Tire pressure monitoring system is made by TST TST and at one time was sold by Camping World along with being able to buy directly from TST. Problem with CW is you may or maynot find a knowledgable employee to answer any questions or trouble shoot issues that may come up. Not that way when dealing with TST dierctly. They sell two different models, one with an owner replaceable battery, one that you must send the sender back after about 5 years of use for them to replace the battery. These systems including other brands are now being used by many rv owners to be able to keep tabs on their tires while underway.
  • Can you tell me how often the batteries on the tire sensors need to be replaced and approx. cost of each?
  • I have TireProtectorUSA (which is not made in the USA) and I don't know the difference between products. However, my tire sensor has saved me twice by monitoring the tire temperature on the towd. Twice I have had my toad brake engaged and the monitor warned me before I destroyed the front tires. I question the accuracy of the PSI reading, perhaps not because the unit is incorrect but rather because I have a couple of pressure gauges, the one on the home compressor is never the same as the hand held gauge and often varies from the tire sensor when reading the motorhome at 95+psi. Still close enough to feel comfortable.
